The stretch of water here is named after an old water bailiff, who lived beside it in 1910.
Undoubtedly one of the best fishing beats on the river, until recently it was extremely hard to reach and only frequented by the more agile fisherman. It has now been opened up, so that access is no longer an issue. Purpose built car parking and slip way down to the river bed are in the process of being created to facilitate the spot for disabled anglers and the less agile amongst us. Please bear with us while the site is under construction. Despite this construction work being carried out, it is now a very popular spot - rarely empty throughout the season.
Fly fishing is second to none here, streams running down into deep water holding fish. May and June produce a large number of salmon on this beat, Grilse fishing is very good.
