The word Bigh is taken from the Gaelic word meaning "Fast Flowing Waters".
This is a very popular spot for experienced fly fishermen. A good number of large salmon are caught in this stretch every year. Wading is best on the east bank, following the curve of the bank.
Access to this stretch is from either bank and is fairly good - the usual solution is to park at Paddy's Streams and walk down the bank and across the Breen Bridge. You can also park at the side of the laneway leading to Camus Church - please do not obstruct this access.
